ECA meeting set to decide European football format from 2024

The European Club Association are set to meet to determine what European football’s future will look like out of 2024.
UEFA had proposed a revamped Champions League arrangement with four teams of eight clubs, as opposed to the eight teams of four that exist at the moment. That would imply 14 matches with a few of those fixtures to be played at the weekend.
There are hints 24 of the 32 teams participating could be guaranteed places in the competition for the subsequent season, however well they achieved.
The programs have been met with opposition from fan groups, leagues and executives. This year Premier League clubs unanimously voiced their worries.
It is understood there are with leagues needing to change several fixtures concerns that the changes would lead to overcrowded calendars. There’s also a sense many want qualification that is merit-based .
As such, it is believed the ECA will rethink the original proposals and some changes will be much less radical than anything envisaged.
